I hate being sick

I’ve been sick for the last 4 days.  I’m just coming out of it, but I’ve coughed so hard, I’ve aggravated my heart arrhythmia.  Nothing like coughing so hard your heart starts beating weird and then you get light headed.

I’m hoping I start feeling well enough I can go to the range in the next few days.  I want to take my time and put lots of little holes in a target.  I plan on taking my time and seeing just how close I can get the holes to be.

It’s actually very calming when you try to shoot as accurately as you can.  You have to regulate your breathing, and consciously feel your heartbeat and to shoot squeeze the trigger very slowly in between heartbeats when you are at the bottom of an exhalation.

While you are also holding your sights in proper alignment on the target.

I take the boys with me usually, because they like to shoot the clay pigeons we set out on the backstop berms.  Hitting a 4 inch round clay from 25 or 50 yards with iron sights isn’t that easy if you don’t take your time and do it right.

But it is very relaxing, because your are forced to take your time and do it right if you want to break the clay.

I’m hoping now with the election out of the way, all the foolishness will stop and .22 LR ammo will come back down in price.

I used to be able to buy a full brick of .22 ammo for under $15.00.  Now a half brick sells for over $50.00.  I can’t spend a day putting holes in paper when ammo costs that much.  And paper target prices are getting ridiculous as well.  I used to get a pack of 10 targets for $1.25, now the same pack of targets costs almost $3.85.

I remember being able to shoot all day long for less than $20.00.

I really miss those days.
